HITC Sport takes a look at the good, the bad and the ugly transfer rumours and speculation surrounding Swansea City this January.
With the January transfer window now open, and their new Head Coach in place, Swansea City have already been linked with a number of moves.
As the club fights to stay in the Premier League, many Swansea fans are hoping that new Head Coach, Paul Clement, will look to strengthen his side, as the side continues to struggle to pick up wins. We’ve decided to take a look at some of the realistic, speculative and ridiculous names being linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium this month.

The Realistic
Swansea City have been extremely poor at the back this season, and it is very likely that the first area Paul Clement will look to address is his back four. After losing captain and stalwart centre-back Ashley Williams to Everton over the summer, Swansea have lacked a smart and physical presence in their back line, and will be looking for a proper replacement this month. With Wales Online linking the Swans with a move for Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia, and the Eastern Daily Press linking them with a move for Norwich City left-back Robbie Brady, we would be shocked not to see some defensive reinforcements arrive at the Liberty Stadium this month.

The Speculative
As well as improving their defence, Swansea City are in desperate need of goals, and have been linked with a move for Newcastle United fan favourite, Aleksander Mitrovic, by Wales Online, as well as being linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s eye-catching young striker, David Selke, by the Telegraph. Despite being in desperate need of some extra firepower, both players are believed to cost huge amounts, and may be out of the Swans reach in this window as a drop to the Championship looms.

The Ridiculous
One thing we don’t expect to see Swansea City doing in this transfer window is splashing big on players, with the club knowing it needs to spread its costs among a number of positions in this window. Therefore, one link that has stuck out recently is the Swans link to Barcelona midfielder, Aleix Vidal, from Wales Online, with the player also being linked with a move to Southampton and Turkish giants, Galatasaray. Considering the midfielder missed nearly six months of football with Barcelona, Vidal is likely to be in Luis Enrique’s plans, are largely outside the Swans’ budget.
