Leicester City winger Demarai Gray could be set to exit this summer. Should Tottenham Hotspur target him over Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha?

A recent report in The Telegraph has suggested that the future of Demarai Gray at Leicester City has been plunged into uncertainty, with the midfielder becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of game time.

The report also suggests that the winger would be available for a fee of around £22 million, due to a release clause in his contract.

Widely considered to be one of the more exciting young English talents in the Premier League, clubs may well be beginning to line up offers for the winger, amidst the player’s reported itchy-feet.

So, should Tottenham Hotspur throw their hat into the ring? Mauricio Pochettino’s side have more recently been looking at a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to a report from The Independent, though their interest has cooled due to the player’s commitments to the Ivory Coast national team, and the £40 million price tag.

So should Spurs turn their attention to Demarai Gray? There are plenty of similarities between the two players already. Both impressive wide players. Both are full of pace.

And both have produced mesmeric skill at times that season, pulling defence’s apart as if by ease. Gray does have the advantage of age on Zaha however, with the Leicester City winger being 20, and Zaha 24.

The price tag will also play a major part in any future decision. The £22 million price quoted for Gray is almost half of the one quoted for Ivory Coast international Zaha, a fact which may pay due dividends in any potential deal.

And Gray’s experience of Champions League football may weigh into that decision too. The youngster has gained experience due to Leciester City’s European campaign this season, in which they reached the quarter-finals.

However, if it were to come down to goals, Wilfried Zaha would still appear to be the better signing, scoring six goals this season. A seasoned Premier League player, might Pochettino choose experience over youth?
