The AFC Bournemouth boss reportedly wants to sign Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere permanently this summer, but would the move be right for the midfielder?

A report in The Telegraph has suggested that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe would like to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on a permanent basis this summer. The 25-year-old has spent the season on loan with The Cherries, and has at times split opinion amongst Bournemouth fans with his performances.
In certain games, the England midfielder has looked off the pace for the Cherries this season, behind midfielders such as Harry Arter and Andrew Surman in the pecking order at the Vitality Stadium. However, the Arsenal man has also shown the kind of class that got so many excited about his future during his time at the Emirates, and it would be a real coup for the Cherries if Howe can convince him to join the club permanently.
But would a move to the Cherries be right for Wilshere? With Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal currently up in the air, the England midfielder may yet have a future at the Emirates. Many have been surprised that Wilshere never really managed to hold down a first team spot at Arsenal during his years there, though a lot of this has been down to the midfielder’s shocking injury record.
A move abroad may also be on the cards. Last year, the London Evening Standard reported that Wilshere was open to a move to a foreign league, with Italy’s Serie A being touted as a possible destination. After the success Joe Hart has found after joining Torino on loan this summer, might Wilshere’s head be turned again by Italy?

Whoever comes in for Jack Wilshere in the summer, one thing is for certain: if his performances continue to improve as they have been doing, the England international is likely to fetch a high price; one which the Cherries may well struggle to match.
Will Eddie Howe get the backing he needs to bring Wilshere to the club permanently? Only time will tell.
