Pundits predict: Spurs v Southampton - How will Poch's side cope without Kane?

Bear with us here. Spurs may have put six past Millwall while The Saints edged a seven-goal thriller at Watford but the absence of Harry Kane means this clash should be viewed in a different light. Southampton can be difficult to break down and Spurs will need the erratic Son to step up again.

Still the closest team to champions-elect Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur have the best home record in the Premier League. Spurs are yet to lose, winning 12 and drawing 2 at their soon-to-be former home of White Hart Lane. Southampton are in decent form, but even without Harry Kane, Tottenham should have too much for the League Cup finalists.

Without Harry Kane this will be a tough match but Heung-min Son and Vincent Janssen will be buoyed by their recent goals and at White Hart Lane Tottenham should just edge it. Saints have the players to score but Spurs have the defenders to keep them at bay for the most part.

Southampton’s third away game in a row (following two wins) is arguably their toughest of the season – Tottenham have the league’s best home record. However, the Saints were the last visiting team to win at White Hart Lane, and Mauricio Pochettino will be without Harry Kane. Crucially for Spurs, they have shown that they can still offer a goalscoring threat without their talisman. Dele Alli will be vital, and Tottenham will have to beware the counter.
