Sheffield Wednesday take on Reading on Friday night in the Championship and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.
Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Reading
Both sides desperately need a win, with Fulham breathing down their necks in the play-off battle. Despite that, I expect the nervousness to translate into a cagey game and end in a draw, with both teams left even more worried.

Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Reading
With Fulham closing in, it seems that Sheffield Wednesday and Reading are losing momentum at precisely the worst time. Both lost last weekend but the nature of the Royals’ collapse at Preston means Carlos Carvalhal’s side could strike a devastating blow.

Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Reading
A big game for both clubs, off the back of 2-0 and 3-0 defeats respectively, and with just two points separating them in the league. Neither side will go into this game with real confidence, but Reading’s poor away record makes me edge towards a Wednesday win.
Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 Reading
These two sides are most at risk of slipping out of the play-offs with Fulham replacing them, so they will be desperate not to lose. The problem is, in so doing a draw could be the most likely outcome, helping neither in the grand scheme of things.
Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Reading
Both play-off teams have identical recent records, and are in a spell of form that could jeopardise their promotion challenges. Wednesday may have the edge considering they’re at home, but the Owls have a number of selection concerns. I’m going for a tense score draw.

Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Reading
Wednesday could be down to the bare bones, with centre-backs especially thin on the ground. Had they been at full strength I would’ve said home win against the play-offs’ other off-form side. However, this now looks a tough ask for the Owls, whose sixth place is once again at risk.
