Gabonese midfielder Didier N’Dong is starting to really impress Sunderland fans.

After another miserable start to season, Sunderland fans have not had much to be cheery about over the last few months. The club currently sit bottom of the Premier League and are desperately trying to climb their way out of the relegation zone.

However, the goals of Jermain Defoe, and the spirited performances the Black Cats are putting in, such as the 4-0 win against Crystal Palace, show there is certainly hope.

Sunderland fans can take some joy from the improving performances of Gabonese midfielder, Didier N’Dong. The attacking midfielder, who joined the Black Cats from French side Lorient in the summer, had initially struggled, like most Sunderland players, but since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, the midfielder looks to have improved.

His goal against Palace at the weekend epitomised the hard work N’Dong has been putting in for Sunderland this season. Not always a goalscorer, N’Dong’s performances in a red and white shirt often go unnoticed, with the Gabonese player not the type to steal the highlights on an episode of Match of the Day.

However, a wonder-strike from N’Dong against Sam Allardyce’s side came about as a just reward, as the midfielder looks to make a considerable effort to Sunderland’s fight to stay in the league.

The arrival of Darron Gibson from Everton a holding-midfielder who David Moyes has worked with in the past, could also help improve N’Dong’s game further. Due to the absence of Lee Cattermole, N’Dong has been forced at times to play a more defensive role, stunting his freedom to get forward.

However, with Gibson now in the side, N’Dong will be freed up to play his natural game more, and Sunderland fans could well be set to see more goals like the one at the weekend in the near future.

With Sunderland fighting to stay in the Premier League, they are sure going to need it!
