A massive 20 points away from the play-off places, currently sat 18th in the Championship table, Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a pretty underwhelming season so far.

After a faltering start under former boss Walter Zenga, Wolves have struggled to keep up with the pace of other promotion-pushing teams in the league, and now look to have settled for yet another year in the Championship.

One of Wolverhampton Wanderers biggest problems has been scoring goals. With Nouha Dicko still getting back to full fitness after a number of injuries, and strikers Joe Mason and Jon Bodvarsson struggling for goals, Wolves are faced with a genuine striker problem.

So how can Paul Lambert change it? One option may well be to turn to an unlikely source. Veteran midfielder Dave Edwards.

The former Luton town man, who has been at Wolves since 2008, is currently the club’s top league goal scorer with nine goals.

Strong, powerful and an expert at timing runs into the box, David Edwards might well be a viable option for Paul Lambert. He certainly possesses a bigger goal threat that Jon Dadi Bodvarsson already.

His game, especially his physically, might well fit fit Lambert’s system as well. Since taking over at Molinuex, Paul Lambert has mostly employed a 4-2-3-1 formation, which relies on a strong central striker to lead the line. Edwards, who normally plays as a central midfielder, is arguably stronger than all of Wolves striker, and might be able to lead the line with more force.
