Two years ago today West Ham United dealt out a thrashing against Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Hammers romped to victory in a 5-1 triumph and the club’s official Twitter account thought they would remind the fans of how good a day that was by posting a tweet about it earlier today.
But it seems they forgot just how strong the ill feeling remains for former West Ham winger Dimitri Payet:
The Frenchman was incredible for West Ham that day. He scored twice – with the other goals coming from Victor Moses and a rare brace for Emmanuel Emenike.
But Payet is simply not revered in the same way as he once was by many fans, after the way he forced a move to Marseille in January 2017.

It was a move that even saw his plaque for Player of the Year the previous campaign removed from the London Stadium.
So to see West Ham paying tribute to him on their Twitter account did not go down too well with many a Hammer fan who quickly called him a snake. But not all of the responses were bad.
Many a West Ham fan seemed more forgiving and happier to remember the good times Payet had at the club, and even suggesting he did the right thing leaving – considering the current disdain for the West Ham board.
Here are some of the best responses…
