West Ham United sold Dimitri Payet to Marseille in January.

Ex-Hammers star Dimitri Payet sat down for an exclusive interview with French media outlet L’Equipe, and explained how he was unhappy with Slaven Bilic’s defensive tactics at his former club, suggesting that he played games without any ‘pleasure’ during his time in East London.
The mercurial Frenchman left West Ham under acrimonious circumstances in January, after demanding to leave the club and refusing to play for Bilic.
The once loved and adored and now vilified hate figure is now plying his trade back in his homeland, and has already impressed for Marseille, scoring a wonder goal last week against Lorient.
And the 29-year-old sat down for an exclusive interview with L’Equipe, highlighting a potential reason why he began to become frustrated with life at West Ham:

“Our way of approaching matches, the defensive system put in place did not please me. You can say that it bothered me, yes. I got through games without any pleasure.”
Payer’s exit actually seemed to work out well for all parties concerned, with the Hammers undoubtedly looking more like a united outfit since the Frenchman upped sticks.
Some would argue that Payet was let down by the club, in the sense that they did not match his ambitions by bringing in players of sufficient quality last summer, but there will still never be an excuse for his refusal to play for the club that paid his wages.
