Pawel Cibicki must follow Mateusz Klich’s example to save Leeds career

Cibicki is attracting interest after a desperate season at Leeds.

Leeds United forward Pawel Cibicki is reportedly interesting Polish giants Legia Warsaw ahead of the summer transfer window after a disappointing campaign – but if he has any hope of reigniting his Leeds stay he must follow Mateusz Klich’s example.

Polish outlet Legia Net claim Cibicki could be on his way this summer, with reigning Ekstraklasa champions Legia Warsaw looking to offer him the chance to end his Elland Road nightmare.

The 24-year-old joined Leeds last summer for a fee believed to be worth £1.5million, but the Sweden Under-21 international only managed 10 appearances for the Yorkshire giants.

Cibicki was even spotted at Legia’s latest match against Wisla Plock on Wednesday night, after being left out of the 22-man squad that travelled to war-torn Myanmar.

A move could be on, then, but Leeds must give the forward the chance to resurrect his near-dead Leeds spell by replicating 10-time Poland international Klich’s example by sending him on loan – rather than selling him permanently.

Klich has thrived since joining FC Utrecht in January, having a hand in four goals in his 14 appearances for the club and is now set to return to Elland Road this summer with Leeds willing to give him a chance to shine once again.

Cibicki must do the same, by joining Legia or indeed any other side on loan and rediscovering the form that saw Leeds sign him from Malmo in the first place.

If he can find his shooting boots once again, surely he can mirror Klich’s example and earn a second chance at Elland Road. At least, Leeds should give him the chance to do so before offloading for good.
