Pawel Cibicki is set to return to Leeds United, following the end of his loan with Molde.
The Swedish attacker joined the Norwegian side on loan until December 31 but, with Molde’s season now over, Cibicki is heading back to Elland Road.
It seems unlikely that he has much to offer Marcelo Bielsa’s side, given that he was deemed surplus to requirements in the summer.
But his imminent return is another reason for Ezgjan Alioski to buck his ideas up.
The Leeds winger is really struggling for form, having not scored for the Whites since September, and on Tuesday courted criticism from neutral fans after appearing to dive in the 1-0 win over Reading.
It’s a very trying period for the Macedonia international, who has hauled by Bielsa at half time on Tuesday, and Cibicki should use his woes to reignite his own career at Leeds.
Alioski is a superior player than Cibicki on his day, but it hasn’t been his day for quite a while and the former Malmo star – a £1.5 million signing in summer 2017 [Aftonbladet] – certainly has enough talent to put him under even more pressure.
It is very clear that Alioski is someone in dire need of a jolt to the system. He has gotten too comfortable, with Bielsa often refusing to drop him, but Cibicki might well provide that jolt.
