Paulo Fonseca should pursue Andre Silva if Everton come calling this summer

Everton are reportedly keen on Portuguese duo Paulo Fonseca and Andre Silva.

Another defeat for Everton this weekend has piled the pressure on manager Sam Allardyce once again, with fans already hoping to see him leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.

Allardyce is overseeing torrid away performances and a fairly bland style of football, leaving fans disgruntled after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Watford.

Allardyce may have penned a deal until the summer of 2019 when he replaced Ronald Koeman, but the pressure is already mounting – especially with one former Everton target once again linked.

The Independent reported back in November that Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri held a meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca and agent Jorge Mendes over luring the Portuguese boss to Goodison Park, only for the Ukrainian’s to stand in the way.

The Daily Mail now believe that Fonseca is back on Everton’s radar after disappointing displays under Allardyce, and the Toffees should look to lure Fonseca and compatriot Andre Silva with Jorge Mendes’ help this summer.

Calciomercato report that Everton are keen on Silva, and his agent Mendes may help them land the striker, though Arsenal are also interested – but the prospect of landing both Fonseca and Silva should be appealing.

Silva, 22, hasn’t registered a league goal for AC Milan since his move from Porto last summer, but after 21 goals last season whilst he also has 11 goals in 18 games for Porto last term, showing his goalscoring ability.

Fonseca will be familiar with Silva’s untapped potential and his goalscoring ability, whilst Everton’s existing strikers don’t inspire much confidence, with Oumar Niasse still unconvincing and Cenk Tosun needing time to settle.

Silva and Fonseca – both represented by Mendes – could be an appealing double act for Everton, especially as fans are already looking towards a future without Allardyce and with an exciting brand of football, with Silva’s pace potentially a major asset if Everton can strike a deal.
