Paulo Fonseca becomes short-priced favourite to land the Everton job

Marco Silva had been leading the race with the bookies to become the next Everton manager.

A dramatic shift in the betting odds has caused Paulo Fonseca to become the outright favourite to become Everton’s next manager.

Marco Silva had been the odds-on favourite to take over at the Toffees for months, but in recent times money has been lumped on Fonseca.

The Shakhtar Donetsk boss has now fallen from a 4/1 shot to evens in the past two days.

Silva, meanwhile, has drifted considerably and is now a 6/1 shot.

The bookies seem to feel that Fonseca is now the clear favourite, with a number of other potential candidates also seeing their prices lengthen.

Mikel Arteta and Sean Dyche had been offered up at short prices previously, but Bet Victor now has them listed as 16/1 and 20/1 shots respectively.

The shortening of Fonseca’s price is sure to create excitement around Goodison Park, as there is a growing clamour for him to get the job.

Everton currently have Sam Allardyce in charge, but large numbers in the Toffees support are against the former England manager being in charge again next season.
