The Portuguese is among the favourites to succeed his compatriot Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday, along with a trio of ex-Middlesbrough men.

Current Sheffield Wednesday assistant boss Lee Bullen is the early favourite to succeed Carlos Carvalhal in the Hillsborough hot seat.
Carvalhal’s departure by mutual consent was confirmed by Wednesday on Christmas Eve, less than 24 hours after the Owls’ 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough, who also parted company with their manager, Garry Monk, in the aftermath.
Bullen, who captained Wednesday before his return as a coach, is 5/2 to take the reins full time, with bookmakers Sky Bet.

Another former Middlesbrough manager, Aitor Karanka, (7/2) and Monk (4/1), are next on the list, ahead of ex-Owls and Boro skipper Nigel Pearson (11/2).
Wednesdayites Paul Hurst (7/1), Richie Barker (8/1) and Gary Megson (9/1) are also highly placed.

However the most interesting name is arguably that of Paulo Fonseca, whose odds have already shortened from 33/1 to 6/1 in the space of a few hours.
The highly-rated Shakhtar Donetsk boss was recently linked with the Everton position.
