The Brazilian appears to have no grudge against the North London side.
Tottenham’s Paulinho looks dejected against Manchester City
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has been discussing his spell with the club and why it did not work out for him in North London.
Paulinho was one of the many players signed by Tottenham during the summer of 2013 by Andre Villas-Boas. He cost £17 million, according to the BBC, then a Spurs club record fee. A long-time regular in the Brazilian national team he was known as a box-to-box midfielder with the ability to thrive in the English game.
But despite an overall impressive first season at the club he soon dropped out of favour under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and joined Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande in 2015.
Speaking to O Globo the Brazilian appeared to have no hard feelings about his Spurs episode, simply acknowledging he was not Pochettino’s first-choice:
“I think my first season at Tottenham was very good. In the second, there was a change of coach, who had the option of putting another player in my place.
“I do not really like to talk about it, but with the arrival of (technician) Mauricio Pochettino, I only had two opportunities playing in my role, when, coincidentally or not, I was voted the best on the field.

“In the other games with him, I played as a half or left-wing. Even so, I tried to do my best, because I’m trying to do what I’m asked to do. It did not happen as I imagined, but life that follows.”
The Argentine preferred to give some of the younger players at the club a chance to succeed and Paulinho consequently suffered.
But he is now thriving in Chinese football and appears very happy in his new surroundings.
Tottenham themselves have also moved on and it seems as though everything worked out for the two parties in the end.
