Rotherham United manager Paul Warne has told The Yorkshire Post that he is confident of signing Rangers winger Jake Hastie on transfer deadline day.

Warne has said that that he has a good chance of securing the services of the 20-year-old winger on loan from Rangers today.

The Rotherham boss has also said that if for any reason the deal falls through, then he does have other options.

Warne told The Yorkshire Post about Hastie: “I want the player and I believe I have got a good chance of getting the player. I am hopeful that he will be joining us on Monday.

“But as everything in my football experience has told me – don’t count your chickens. I am hopeful and if he doesn’t come I have another couple of options that I think will help us.”

Good move for Rangers and Jake Hastie?

It was always going to be tough for Hastie to establish himself in the Rangers team this season.

After all, the Gers have established wingers such as Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo, and Hastie is only 20 years of age.

Moreover, the youngster has only limited experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell.

A loan move to Rotherham in League One in England will toughen up Hastie and will make him a better footballer.

The Scotland Under-21 international winger would then return to Rangers next season in a better position to break into Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team.
