The Manchester United ace would be better off at Tottenham Hotspur, according to club legend Paul Scholes
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes suggested that Luke Shaw would be better off playing under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, when speaking exclusively to BT Sport, after the 22-year-old was substituted off at half-time against Brighton in the FA Cup yesterday.
Shaw arrived at Old Trafford from Southampton in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £27 million, but he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular, making just 35 Premier League starts in nearly four years.
Jose Mourinho is quite clearly not a big fan of the English left-back, and it would be no surprise to see the Portuguese sell him during the summer transfer window.
Scholes, who made 705 appearances for the Red Devils, claimed that Shaw still possesses the talent to become world-class, and suggested that he would be better off at Spurs, when speaking exclusively to BT Sport:
“I still believe he could be the best in the world and in the summer he could go to Tottenham or somewhere and he could improve. I think sometimes, managers get in their head that there’s a player not for them. For me I think he could be brilliant but his manager will still find something wrong with him.”
United have plenty of cover in the left-back department, so they would surely be open to sanctioning Shaw’s exit, although with both Ben Davies and Danny Rose competing for the left full-back spot at Tottenham, it is debatable whether Mauricio Pochettino would actually be interested in signing the United ace.
