Paul Scholes has urged Arsenal transfer target, Marcus Rashford, to sort out his ‘poor’ body language.
The Premier League icon added that Rashford is ‘really struggling’ for Manchester United and he needs some luck in front of goal.
When the 24-year-old was a teenager, he ripped Arsenal apart on his debut and was seemingly destined for big things from then on.
He then became a regular for Man United, including scoring crucial highly-pressured goals in the Champions League, as well as becoming an England international.
But, for the past few seasons, that form has well and truly gone out of the window, hence why there are rumours he is considering leaving Old Trafford, with Arsenal acting as potential suitors.
Whatever does or doesn’t happen with Rashford this summer, Scholes offered him a bit of advice on what to do during his tricky period, as he told Premier League Productions.
“As a kid, he was an out-and-out centre-forward,” said Scholes. “I always felt watching him, when he came to the first team, that would be his overall position. He would end up in that position.
“It’s not quite worked out for him. He has ended up as these wide forwards. Cutting inside, with great ability. But he is lacking confidence, at the minute, especially in the last few weeks.
“He has been really struggling. And he needs a goal. Needs it to bounce off his backside. Just something to get his confidence back.
“He’s quick. Strong. We know he can hit a ball. He’s missing that because of his lack of confidence. If he’s not giving that, then just give something to the team. Run around. We want to see the right body language because his body language has been poor.”
Rashford was part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2020, although, he wasn’t a regular at the tournament.
The versatile forward went into that summer on the back of indifferent form and perhaps being lucky to be selected by his England manager.
The response this season has been pretty abject, but it doesn’t help his cause that he is playing for a Man United team that is going through its worst period in decades.
During England’s last set of international matches, Rashford wasn’t selected and rightly so, if he continues down his current path, then he will be lucky to play for his country again.
