Paul Scholes has warned Newcastle United about the threat posed by Manchester United ahead of the upcoming Carabao Cup Final, especially after their triumph against Barcelona in the Europa League.

With Nick Pope suspended for the clash and Erik ten Hag’s side especially flying since the World Cup, Eddie Howe and Co. go into this fixture as underdogs. Especially considering United convincingly defeated Xavi’s men over two legs in fine fashion.

Keeping that in mind, Paul Scholes, who is an undisputed Manchester United great has reiterated the threat posed by his former club to Newcastle in the build-up to the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.

The Magpies have the chance to kickstart their burgeoning project in emphatic fashion by winning their first piece of silverware since 1955.

However, Paul Scholes seems to think that is easier said than done as Manchester United will pose a huge threat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Final, as quoted by Chronicle Live.

“To go in with momentum of having beaten a team like Barcelona, a top-class team with the history they have, it was important going into Sunday. It’s not just Sunday, Sunday’s a massive game for silverware which is something which this club needs, and it will take a little bit of pressure off him and the team”, he said.

Paul Scholes is spot on

The importance of momentum heading into big games such as the Carabao Cup Final cannot be underestimated, and as Paul Scholes says, Manchester United certainly have that in abundance, which cannot be said for Newcastle.

The Magpies are yet to win a league game since 21st January, which is certainly a red flag going into one of their most crucial matches in decades.

Newcastle will hope that they can prove Paul Scholes wrong by doing a number on United in the final and bringing the Carabao Cup back to St. James’ Park.
