Paul Scholes has labelled Liverpool as ‘sensational’ following their 4-0 win over Manchester United at Anfield, as he told Premier League Productions.

The Old Trafford legend added that Manchester United’s display was ‘disgusting’, so he ‘prefers to talk about Liverpool’.

Before a ball was kicked, many were expecting the Premier League title-chasers to rip their old rivals apart, just like they did during the reverse fixture.

And before Ralf Rangnick could blink on the touchline, Luis Diaz was opening the scoring after being fed a brilliant ball by Mo Salah.

Thereafter, the home team ran riot and were threatening to hit the five they hit at Old Trafford in October.

Well, Jurgen Klopp’s side fell one short of that, as Scholes shared his verdict on what he was watching tonight.

“I have probably lost a little bit of anger towards them,” said Scholes. “I feel saddened watching it really. It’s not great to watch. They lack belief. They lack a way of playing.

“But I think I prefer to talk about Liverpool tonight. Liverpool have been sensational. An absolute masterclass on how to control a game of football and when it’s needed in the final third, that little injection of pace.

“I am saddened by Man United. It looks like this is the last place in the world they want to be. You can’t come to Anfield and be like that. It’s a disgusting performance.

“You can’t take anything away from Liverpool. They are a sensational football team.”

Liverpool are now sitting top of the Premier League table and the pressure is now on Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side will host Brighton at the Etihad on Wednesday night, and whilst they will be expected to win, it’s a different level of pressure trying to answer their rivals moving to the top of the table.

There’s no doubt that the momentum is well in the Merseyside giants court because they just keep getting better and better during these crunch weeks of the campaign.

The next step for Klopp and his players, the small matter of the Merseyside derby.
