Life was pretty tough for Rasmus Hojlund during Manchester United’s goalless draw against Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.

One on hand, Erik ten Hag and Co. would have been delighted with the point and clean sheet because many expected Liverpool to walk all over them.

In one of the scrappiest and dullest games you will ever see, those from Manchester United managed to get over the line and secure a point.

But it wasn’t pretty, as was proven by the fact that Rasmus Hojlund only had four touches of the ball in the first half, which left Paul Scholes stunned, as he told Premier League Productions (17/12/23 at 5:25 pm).

The Manchester United legend was pretty blunt and questioned ‘how is it possible for a footballer’ to see very little of the ball

Whilst Liverpool were creating chance after chance. They were dominating possession and they weren’t allowing their opponents to push forward.

Plus, you are only as good as your service, and without the suspended Bruno Fernandes, there was little going through to Rasmus Hojlund, up until his guilt-edge one-v-one chance in the second half, which he hit straight at Alisson Becker.

“People like Hojlund, not really touched the ball,” said Scholes. “Four touches. I don’t know how it’s possible for a footballer to play, what was it 47 minutes?! And he’s only touched the ball 4 times, it’s incredible.”

Point suits Manchester United more than Liverpool

Many weren’t just expecting Liverpool to win here, but possibly batter their opponents once again.

You couldn’t argue against it because of past results, especially that 7-0 last season.

Saying that, it’s Man United who will be far happier with the point, as they prevented the Reds from returning to the top of the Premier League table.

It’s Arsenal who are leading the charge now, as they are next to visit Anfield on Saturday in what will be a mouthwatering heavyweight showdown.

But before those two can kick off, if Aston Villa beat Sheffield United on Friday, then they will be top of the table.
