Paul Scholes has brushed off any suggestions on Premier League Productions that Tottenham are in a title race.
The former midfielder was being critical of his own club after their goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
At the start of the campaign, Tottenham remarkably put six past Manchester United at Old Trafford, and since then, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have scored only one goal and failed to win against any of the top-six.
But when Scholes was shown Man United’s woeful record against those so-called top-six teams, he was quick to dismiss Spurs from the list and suggested that he doesn’t see them as title contenders.
“It’s not good enough,” said Scholes. “You are not going to win the league with them type of performances or results.
“But you need to start winning these games. When you are playing the teams around you, it’s amazing the boost it gives you.
“I know Tottenham are in that but they are not the ones going for the title. You talk about your Liverpool’s, Manchester City’s and they cannot seem to win them games.”
Spurs are eight points behind second-placed Manchester United, but most importantly, they have two games in hand.
Jose Mourinho’s side take on Brighton on Sunday evening, as a win could send them into the top-four.
If Spurs can win their remaining two games in hand then they would be two points off Man United, with a better goal difference, so there isn’t any reason why they shouldn’t be in the title race.
But then some would point to Harry Kane’s recent injury and their pretty abject defeat to Liverpool on Thursday night, which worried a number of those in North London.
