Emmanuel Frimpong has strongly criticised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Twitter. while Paul Scholes has said on BT Sports 3 (10:42pm, May 6, 2021) that he feels sorry for the Gunners’ boss.

Arsenal have played out a goalless draw with Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie this evening.

The Gunners lost the first leg of the tie 2-1 in Spain last week, meaning that the Premier League club have suffered a 2-1 aggregate defeat.

Former Arsenal midfielder Frimpong was following the match, and he has hammered Gunners’ manager Arteta on Twitter.

Ex-Manchester United star Scholes feels sorry for the Arsenal manager.

Scholes said on BT Sports 3 (10:42pm, May 6, 2021): “I feel a bit sorry for him (Arteta). I think every young manager needs time at a club to turn things around.”

What now for Mikel Arteta?

Arsenal’s season is virtually over now. The Gunners are unlikely to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and their only realistic chance of playing in the Champions League in 2021-22 is over.

Arteta is an inexperienced manager, and the Spaniard needs to be given time and afforded patience.

Of course, Arteta will come under pressure after tonight, but Arsenal simply cannot sack managers at every single hurdle.

Arsenal sacked Unai Emery before they appointed Arteta. It was Emery’s Villarreal that knocked the Gunners out of the Europa League.

Emotions will be high tonight and for the next few days, but the Arsenal chiefs need to be careful about their next step regarding the future of Arteta at the club.
