Paul Scholes has given his thoughts on his former club’s Premier League title chances.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand in a video blog published on Ferdinand’s Five Youtube channel, Paul Scholes has stated his belief that Manchester United will not be able to win the Premier League title this term due to their weak backline.
Manchester United splashed the cash to secure the services of superstars Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly this summer and the huge investment allied by the presence of a serial winner such as Jose Mourinho at the helm has led many to believe that the Red Devils will be able to win the Premier League title this season.

To match that hype, United have made a brilliant start to their campaign so far and it has to be said that the Red Devils are looking very good at the moment.
While United may be favourites to win the league in many people’s eyes, club legend Paul Scholes has somewhat surprisingly gone on to express his reservations regarding his former side’s ability to go all the way this season.
The 41-year-old explained that he is unsure of United’s current backline consisting of Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia, and added that the Red Devils could struggle with the duo in their side for the games against the bigger teams.

Scholes told Rio Ferdinand in a the Five video blog, “I’m not sure if they will win it this year. But I think under Mourinho they will win the league. There’s still a few question marks for me for this season. I think a little bit defensively more than anything. I think the last couple of years we’ve worried about goals.
“Daley Blind, great footballer. Brilliant footballer. Whether he’s good enough at centre-half in big games? I’m (not sure). Antonio (Valencia), brilliant going forward. Defensively again, in the big games, I’m not sure.”

Do you think Scholes is right to be concerned, or do United have what it takes to be champs this year?
