Paul Scholes says Leandro Trossard is a ‘great signing’ for Arsenal after he was left impressed by the forward’s debut against Manchester United on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s men beat their old rivals 3-2, with Trossard making a mini cameo from the bench and Scholes thinks that the Belgium international didn’t weaken Arsenal when he replaced Gabriel Martinelli.
After Mykhailo Mudryk ended up across London and secured a transfer to Chelsea, those at the Emirates had to change their plans and look for a new forward to come in and provide much-needed depth to their attacking line.

With Trossard’s contract at Brighton coming to an end, Arsenal proceeded to pounce and pay £20 million upfront, including £7 million in add-ons for the player (Sky Sports).
It’s still early days yet, but so far, Arsenal fans are pretty excited by what the 28-year-old can bring to the table.
That squad depth is everything and those back-up players are as important as those starting week in and week out, which was touched upon by Scholes, as he told Premier League Productions (22/01/23 at 7:15 pm).
“When you are going for league titles, you need squads, you need players who can replace players, not almost like-for-like,” said Scholes. “They might not always be as good, but they might even be better.
“Trossard coming on for Martinelli, I didn’t think it weakened Arsenal, it really didn’t.
“I think Trossard is a great signing. Two or three more would really boost this team to go on and win the league.”

MORE TO COME…?
The calls Arsenal make during the January transfer window could just prove to be crucial in them getting over that line and securing Premier League title glory.
Added with Trossard, centre-back Jakub Kiwior was also signed up recently, but perhaps there is room for a few more?
Fans are pointing towards that midfield area and that defensive-minded brain needed to plug the quality gap if Partey was to find himself on the sidelines, for one reason or another.
