Paul Scholes has claimed that Adam Forshaw’s midfield battle with Paul Pogba was a ‘mis-match’ during Leeds United’s 4-2 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (20/02/22 at 3:00 pm).

The Old Trafford legend thinks Pogba got the better of his Leeds counterpart at Elland Road.

For the first time in nearly two decades, a packed-out Leeds crowd watched their team suffer a defeat against their old rivals.

It didn’t help matters when the away side stormed into a 2-0 lead in rainy and windy conditions in Yorkshire.

Whilst Marcelo Bielsa’s men were much better in the second, including pulling the game back to 2-2 within a blink of an eye, they just couldn’t keep their back door shut.

Nonetheless, this is what Scholes had to say about Pogba’s battle with Forshaw in the middle of the park.

“I think Pogba has been good,” said Scholes. “I think him against Forshaw has been a bit of a mis-match in terrible conditions.”

Ever since Forshaw has returned from his long-term injury, he has been one of Leeds United’s better players.

The Liverpool-born player wouldn’t have been pleased with his performance, but it doesn’t help when he’s not playing with the usual suspects.

Whilst a lot of people will look towards the club leaking goal after goal, it needs to be remembered that they are still without Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford.

Leeds fans will be hoping that they will be okay regarding the relegation battle, but they still need their star players back as soon as possible, else the nerves around the club might just start to shoot up during these coming months.
