Paul Scholes was recently asked who his dream signing would be for Manchester United, and he picked a name that many fans would find hard to disagree with: Declan Rice.
He could have gone with someone like William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, or Bukayo Saka, but Rice was the one who stood out to him.
The 26-year-old has been absolutely outstanding this season and has found a new level under Mikel Arteta. He has become a proper leader on and off the pitch, playing every minute in the Premier League so far and showing up big in key moments.
The 26-year-old has also stepped into a leadership role at Arsenal, something that has only added to his influence under Mikel Arteta.
That is exactly why the England international is seen as one of the best in the world right now – and why Scholes would love to have someone like him at Old Trafford.
Paul Scholes names Declan Rice as his ideal addition for Manchester United

Scholes has made it clear he would love to see a player like Rice at Manchester United, and he is not the only one. Nicky Butt also shares that view.
This season, the midfielder has established himself as one of the world’s best in his position, earning praise for his performances from other figures such as Wayne Rooney.
The former West Ham captain would fit into just about any side in world football right now, and Scholes is clearly a fan.
On The Good, The Bad & The Football, Scholes was asked about his dream signing for the Red Devils and replied: “Yeah, not a dream, but something I think they need is probably a Declan Rice.”
Nicky Butt then added: “Yeah, that’s what I was going to say. Declan Rice.”
This season, the midfielder has been outstanding in North London and is definitely in the conversation for Premier League Player of the Season.
Jamie Carragher picks Granit Xhaka and Declan Rice over Moises Caicedo
Elsewhere, Jamie Carragher has selected both Granit Xhaka and Rice over Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Explaining his choices to Sky Sports, the former Liverpool defender said: “So, I’ve gone with Xhaka and Rice in there. I mean, the other one to put in was Caicedo, and that was a really tough one.
“I didn’t want to put all three because I think they’re almost all defensive, but I want to put an attacking midfield player in there. I’ve obviously got Bruno Fernandes.
“I’ve said I think Declan Rice just has the edge on Caicedo. But I just felt the impact of Xhaka this season for me is the biggest impact of a signing or effect on a team if you like.”
