Patrick Bamford was involved in one of the controversial incidents during Leeds United’s draw with Aston Villa.

Paul Robinson has told Sky Sports’ live post-match coverage of Leeds’ draw with Aston Villa (broadcast on 28/4 from 11:30) that he thought Patrick Bamford was an embarrassment following the incident that saw Anwar El Ghazi sent off at Elland Road.
With Leeds’ automatic-promotion hopes all but over heading into Sunday, fans would have been forgiven for expecting a game that had an end of season feel as both teams gear up for the play-offs. But what followed was one of the most memorable clashes in Championship history.
The game finished 1-1 after a bizarre sequence of events that started with Mateusz Klich scoring the opening goal as Villa implored the Whites to put the ball out. Jonathan Kodjia was down injured minutes after Villa put the ball out for Adam Forshaw, but Leeds carried on and found the back of the net.
After melees involving the two sets of players and the two backroom teams, Marcelo Bielsa instructed his players to let the visitors run the ball into the net for the equaliser. And although Pontus Jansson tried to stop the goal, Albert Adomah did level the score.

But the goal only came after El Ghazi had been sent off. No-one initially seemed too sure what had happened during a confrontation that resulted in Bamford dropping to the floor as if he had been struck. However, replays showed that there was no contact and Bamford dived to get the Villa man into trouble.
And after the game, Robinson was extremely critical of the way Bamford acted during the incident.

“No, it was embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing,” he told Sky Sports.
“You cannot blame the referee for this because it’s his linesman on the far side. He sees a flailing-ish arm. And then Patrick Bamford behaves like that. I’ll defend players and you shouldn’t be fighting, you shouldn’t be putting your arms up. Patrick Bamford’s got his arm round El Ghazi. I don’t know why them two are getting involved anyway. And then the way that Patrick Bamford reacts to that, that’s ungentlemanly conduct in itself. That red card will be rescinded.”
