Spurs captain Lloris made a catastrophic error during France’s World Cup final triumph.

The 31-year-old held aloft the World Cup trophy on Sunday evening, 20 years on from Les Blues last triumph after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final. But Lloris was to blame for one of Croatia’s goals.
Though the scoreline read 4-1, Lloris made the final 10 minutes slightly more interesting by attempting to take on Mario Mandzukic in his six-yard box – only for the Juventus striker to tackle the goalkeeper and score.
Robinson did not mention Lloris’ mistake, but did state that the former Lyon stopper’s decision making is a question mark and that one of his weaknesses is when he comes off his line to receive a through ball or indeed a cross.
“He’s had an indifferent end to the season at Tottenham, where he has faced criticism for the first time,” Robinson said. “Towards the second half of the season he made unusual, uncharacteristic mistakes.
“He got questioned at times, and his decision making was one of the first things that went when his confidence went. His judgement of through balls let him down. His shot stopping and distribution, though, is not in question.
“When he leaves his line, that is potentially the only question you can fault him on.”

Lloris remains one of the first names on the team sheet in north London, with Mauricio Pochettino keeping faith in the goalkeeper during his dips in and out of form last season.
The stopper will now receive some well-earned rest this summer before reporting back to Spurs for pre-season training, with the Premier League campaign starting on August 11 with a trip to Newcastle United.
