Paul Robinson has told BBC Radio 5 Live – as per BBC Live’s coverage – that the Everton board could consider sacking Frank Lampard after his side suffered a 4-1 loss to Brighton at Goodison Park, leaving them in 16th place in the table.
Lampard, 44, watched his side make a decent enough start to the Premier League campaign – picking up 10 points from eight league games. Since then, they have lost seven of their next 11 league games – winning only one match.
The ex-Chelsea boss is struggling to turn it around and for a successive season, Everton are in the midst of a relegation battle. Tuesday ‘s 4-1 loss to Brighton has compounded things further. The four teams below have a game in hand.
Robinson gave his verdict, having watched Everton lose to Brighton 4-1 at home. The Toffees were woeful as Roberto De Zerbi’s side strolled to an easy win. The ex-England goalkeeper believes the Everton board have a decision to make.
“Managers have a life span and Lampard is now at a time where the board is looking at relegation. They will have to think about giving him time or look elsewhere and make a change. Everton are in a relegation battle,” Robinson said.

Robinson: Everton board could consider sacking Lampard
It has been a woeful run of form. Lampard was tasked with keeping Everton in the Premier League last season and did so. He deserves credit for bringing a divided club together – but this season, it is more his team, and his mistakes.
Everton have had their injuries, but lack the confidence and any quality to really hurt Premier League sides. Lampard now has to take some blame for that. Can they see out the season and avoid the drop with him in charge?
Or, is it now past that and a change is needed – purely to instigate a change in Everton’s form. The Toffees board have got to make a decision now or soon, before it is too late. Especially, with the January window in full swing.
