Patrick Bamford joined Leeds United in the summer of 2018.

With Kemar Roofe heading to Anderlecht, as reported in The Daily Mail, the burden will be on Patrick Bamford to lead the line for Leeds United this season.

True, Leeds could well sign a striker before the summer transfer window closes if Roofe leaves, but the Whites will rely on forward Bamford for goals.

After all, the former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough forward has been at Elland Road since the summer of 2018 and cost the Whites £7 million in transfer fees, as reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post.

According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old made 16 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for the West Yorkshire outfit last season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in the process.

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has suggested that it will be hard for Bamford to step up in place of Roofe.

Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson has also given his take on Bamford, and he has pointed out a weakness in the game of the Englishman.

Morrison said about Bamford on Sky Sports News (2:51pm, August 3, 2019): “He will have to step up to the mark and score. He hasn’t got the energy of Roofe.”

Robinson said about Bamford on Sky Sports Football (4:16pm, August 5, 2019): “If everything’s okay, Patrick plays well and scores goals. He is a very, very good goalscorer.

“But there’s one side to his game. Richard Keogh played against him in the playoff last year, the Derby centre-half, he roughed him up a bit, he got stuck into him, and he didn’t like it and went missing a little bit.”
