Newcastle United are now reportedly facing competition from Manchester City for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

According to journalist Miguel Delaney’s weekly newsletter for the Independent last week, Newcastle are keen on signing Pogba on a free transfer and are willing to pay the Manchester United midfielder more than £300,000 per week.

Pogba currently earns £290,000-a-week at Manchester United (SalarySport).

However, the Magpies are now facing competition from last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Times have reported that City have been offered the chance to sign the France international midfielder on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

The Citizens are interested in bringing in the 29-year-old as a potential replacement for the departing Fernandinho, according to the report.

Manchester City or Newcastle United for Paul Pogba?

In our opinion, Manchester City would be more appealing to Pogba than Newcastle.

After all, City win the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League on a regular basis.

However, Pogba will be fully aware that if he moves to City, then he will damage the relationship he has with Manchester United fans.

City and United are bitter rivals, and the Old Trafford faithful will certainly not like one of their players leaving for free and moving to the Etihad Stadium.
