Stephen Curry has long been one of the game’s most gifted scorers, and even at 37, he’s still finding new ways to shine.

His latest milestone came off the back of a 48-point night against Portland. While Golden State didn’t come away with the win, it was another reminder that he remains as dangerous as ever.

Curry now has 45 games with at least 40 points since turning 30, moving him ahead of Michael Jordan for the most in NBA history.

Curry’s career largely overlapped with LeBron James’ prime, a time when most agreed LeBron was the league’s top player.

But even with LeBron holding that title, Curry still found his own lane into the conversation, alongside names like Kevin Durant.

Paul Pierce believes Curry has a strong case for being the best of his generation, pointing to his unanimous MVP win that came during LeBron’s peak years.

Pierce also noted that no player managed to win a unanimous MVP during Michael Jordan’s era.

“The man [Stephen Curry] has a unanimous MVP while LeBron [James] was in his prime.

“Nobody is getting a unanimous MVP in the [Michael] Jordan era.”

Curry’s path to surpassing LeBron

One way Curry could move ahead of LeBron is by adding another title to his tally.

Both players are currently tied with four rings, but if Curry manages to claim a fifth, that might shift the conversation in his favour.

Still, the chances of that happening don’t look great right now. If anything, James seems closer to another title with the Lakers than Curry does with Golden State.

The Warriors need to be more consistent this season if they want any hope of making a deep run in the playoffs.
