Speaking recently to the Derby Telegraph, former Derby County striker Paul Peschisolido has been praising the appointment of new manager Gary Rowett, suggesting the Rams boss is “one of the best young up-and-coming managers in England.”
The former Burton Albion manager, who was replaced by Gary Rowett after leaving the Brewers, said that Rowett is “very meticulous with his sessions. They run like clockwork” and that the “players will want to play for him as he’s genuine, has great banter…I can’t speak highly enough about him.”

This high praise should have Derby County supporters excited for next season. Since their climb to the play-off final back in 2014, Derby fans have been left continually disappointed, season after season.
A side who are backed handsomely by their owner has failed to win promotion under a number of different managers, cycling through Paul Clement, Nigel Pearson and even a second chance for Steve McClaren which, unsurprisingly, didn’t end well.
However, under Rowett, Rams fans seem to finally have a manager who is not only in-tune with the wants of the supporters, but one who seems to have the club at his heart. A former Rams player, Gary Rowett is relishing the chance to finally fulfil Derby County fans’ high expectations.

And with a huge overhaul of the squad expected to take place over the summer, Gary Rowett is likely to be in a strong position going into next season. In recent years, some have expected the Rams to be able to compete for one of the top two places, but after missing out on the play-offs last season, Rams fans are likely to be happy with a finish anywhere in the top six.
Whether they make it or not will likely depend a lot on who they can bring in and ship out over the summer, and how quickly the new playing squad can adapt to Rowett’s methods. However, the sense is there that the former Birmingham City manager is in this for the long-haul, and will be given the time he needs by Chairman Mel Morris to get Derby County back to the Premier League.
