The midfielder, currently on loan at Bournemouth from Arsenal, is part of Gareth Southgate’s latest squad.
Writing for Eurosport, former England midfielder Paul Parker has hit out at Jack Wilshere’s inclusion in the current Three Lions setup.
The midfielder is on loan at Bournemouth this year after electing to depart Arsenal in search of first team football.
He has impressed with the Cherries, playing regularly and showing flashes of the quality that many are aware he has at his disposal.
His form has earned him a return to the England set up, with Gareth Southgate naming him as part of his squad for the games against Scotland and Spain.

The decision has been questioned in some parts and Parker is one of those who thinks it is undeserved.
“I can’t say he’s not a decent player; he is, he’s been in the Premier League and at Arsenal for a while,” he told Eurosport.
“But there are talented players who are coming through, who have been playing regular football for a long time, and haven’t been given an opportunity.”
“Just because he’s been given a run of games at Bournemouth doesn’t mean he deserves it.”

The last few years have been tough on Wilshere; with a series of long-term injuries have curtailed his career.
It is fair to say he has not reached the heights that many predicted when he first broke onto the scene at Arsenal.
At the time he was likened to Paul Gascoigne, as nearly every young English talent is at some point, but Parker refuses that idea entirely.
“When he first came on the scene there were comparisons with Paul Gascoigne. But I don’t see any similarity, it was just an easy name to pick,” he added.
“He’s more of a controlled pass-and-move player, looking for those match-winning balls. Perhaps he can find a gap between centre-backs for forwards to run through, but he’s not Gazza.”
