West Ham United could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
West Ham are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with just 30 points from 30 matches.
The Hammers are just two points above the relegation zone and are in genuine danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.
West Ham fans are not happy with the team and the club’s owners, and there was violence and pitch invasion at the London Stadium during the game against Burnley last weekend.
Former Arsenal star Merson, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has suggested that if West Ham go down, then it will be because of the fans.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “If West Ham go down now, their crowd will send them down.
“Those fans need to bite their tongue and get behind the team because the players won’t be able to handle it if they start invading the pitch and protesting again.”
Wrong logic
West Ham fans have become frustrated, and the scenes at the London Stadium during the match against Burnley were indeed terrible and should not be repeated ever.
However, it is not the fans who are responsible for the team’s current situation; it is the players and those who signed them who must be blamed if the Hammers get relegated.
