Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is out of form.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli was subject of heavy criticism at the weekend.
Alli’s performance against Liverpool was poor, and he needs to work out a way to get back on track.
Pundit Paul Merson had a view on why Alli isn’t performing, and it was a strange one.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he blamed Alli’s teammates, with Moussa Sissoko the one he named, as reason for Alli’s decline.
Merson said: “You’re a midfielder, no one likes chasing another midfielder when they haven’t got the ball and they get in the box and score a goal. That’s what he’s stopped doing.
“He might be thinking that when Moussa Sissoko has got the ball, is it worth me running? And that’s a problem.”

Merson’s comments are misguided and a poor excuse for Alli’s loss of form.
Alli is supposed to be a game changing midfielder, and his decline is on both himself, and the coaching staff.
Blaming his teammates is no good, and if that is what Alli is doing, then it reflects poorly on him.
Alli is likely to have been stung by the criticism, which came after a tough game, a week after he scored his first goal of the season.
Tottenham need him to get back to his best, they are a better side when Alli is scoring goals. Unfortunately Alli has been out of form all 2019.
