The former midfielder believes something has gone on behind the scenes at the London Stadium.
West Ham’s Dimitri Payet celebrates scoring
Speaking on Sky Sports, Paul Merson says he is worried about Dimitri Payet’s situation at West Ham United.
The Frenchman was the star of the show for the Hammers last season with a series of impressive performances in a strong year under Slaven Bilic.
He continued that this summer, as he was the key man for France as they reached the final of Euro 2016.
His performances did not go unnoticed, with many suggesting a move to one of the big clubs in Europe could be on the cards.

West Ham have denied he will be leaving, but his failure to play at the beginning of this season has ramped up speculation once again.
And Merson has said he thinks there could be surprise before the end of the transfer window.
“I worry about the Payet situation,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’d wait until Wednesday. I think something has gone on there. I just don’t see how he hasn’t been involved. I think there could be a little surprise on the way.”

It would certainly be shocking were Payet to leave before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
Every indication has been that he will be staying at the London Stadium this summer, with the Hammers building their team around him.
His departure would be a major blow and it is certain that they will be doing everything to ensure it doesn’t happen.
