Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have appointed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the Gers’ manager.

Gerrard will take charge of Rangers from June, with the former England international midfielder managing the Liverpool Under-18 side since the summer of 2017.
The 37-year-old is a Liverpool legend and is one of the greatest players to have ever played for the Merseyside outfit.
Former Arsenal star Merson has suggested that Gerrard took the managerial role at Rangers because he is not wanted by Liverpool.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Steven is only taking the Rangers job because he doesn’t feel loved at Liverpool.
“If Zeljko Buvac isn’t coming back, why haven’t they offered him the No 2 job? I think they should have done. He’s a legend at Anfield.
“The Rangers job is massive. They are a huge club and once you’ve decided you want to leave Liverpool and go into management, it’s too good to turn down really.
“But if Steven Gerrard had been offered a job on Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff there is no way he leaves Anfield. That’s the main reason he’s going to Scotland. He doesn’t feel wanted.”

Determination and bravery
Gerrard has only recently started coaching, and him leaving Liverpool for Rangers is a sign that he is ready to make the step-up.
Staying at Anfield and working with manager Jurgen Klopp would have been great, but going out on his own to Rangers underlines the former England international midfielder’s confidence and his determination to succeed.
Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and if Gerrard achieves success at Ibrox, then he will become a legend for the Gers.
