The Watford manager is said to be Everton’s top target for the role.

Paul Merson believes Watford’s Marco Silva will be the next permanent Everton manager… but there’s a catch.
The BBC reported on Wednesday that Everton could turn their attention away from Silva, after Watford ‘firmly rejected’ the Toffees’ approach.
It is claimed that Everton, who sacked Ronald Koeman a month ago on Thursday, are willing to pay £10 million to secure the Portuguese boss’s services.

But according to Merson, the Merseyside club will get their man… eventually.
Discussing Everton’s upcoming trip to Southampton in his Sky Sports predictions column – which he thinks will end in a 1-1 draw – the former England midfielder wrote: “I think David Unsworth will have the job until the end of the season, and sooner or later the Silva deal will be done and it’ll happen in the summer.
“I think Everton are writing this season off now, as long as they don’t go down. If they bring a manager in now, he’ll want £50m or £60m in January.”
Silva, who only moved to Watford six months ago following a brief spell at Hull City, has slipped to third favourite (7/2) to become Everton’s next boss with bookmakers, Sky Bet.

Toffees caretaker Unsworth (3/1) and B Leipzing sporting director Ralf Rangnick (2/1) have since emerged as front-runners, although Rangnick is expected to renew his contract, according to Sky Sports.
