Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are doing well at the moment and are very much in the running for the Premier League top four.

Maybe, just maybe, Tottenham Hotspur could even challenge for the Premier League title.

Okay, it is unlikely and some may even laugh at the idea, but what if Tottenham got the better of Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday?

What if Spurs continue to win matches until the next international break?

You just never know.

But, of course, the main objective for Tottenham this season is to finish in the Premier League top four.

Paul Merson on Ivan Toney to Tottenham Hotspur

And, according to Paul Merson, if Tottenham are in and around the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table in January 2024, then they should make a bid for Ivan Toney.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit believes that Spurs should try to sign the 27-year-old England international striker from London and Premier League rivals Brentford if they have a chance of ending up in the top four.

Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:26pm, September 23, 2023): “If Tottenham are in the top four, they have got to have a go.

“They have got to have a go. But it all depends on where they are in the table.”

Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to bid for Ivan Toney

We do not think that Tottenham Hotspur will try to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

TalkSPORT has reported that Brentford want £60 million for Toney.

Chelsea are reported to be interested in the 27-year-old striker and are confident of getting a deal done.

It is unlikely that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will want to spend £60 million on a 27-year-old striker in the middle of the season, especially when there could be a transfer battle with London rivals Chelsea.
