West Ham United play host to Leicester City tomorrow.

Paul Merson suggested that West Ham could be in trouble against Leicester tomorrow, due to the fat that the onus will be on them to come out an attack the Foxes, when writing his column for Sky Sports.

The Hammers are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form, having lost four of their last five Premier League games, and they now sit in 11th spot in the table, five points adrift of seventh placed Leicester.

West Ham desperately need to beat Brendan Rodgers’ side tomorrow, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of finishing inside the Europa League places, and they will be expected to take the game to the visitors from the very first whistle.

Merson explained how that could prove to be problematic for the east London outfit, however, when writing his column for Sky Sports, suggesting that they might be better served in sitting deep and trying to hit Leicester on the counter:

Manuel Pellegrini the head coach

“West Ham will have to come out and have a go at Leicester and that is not what you really want to be doing. You look at Leicester’s results, when teams come out and have a go at them, they can then hurt their opponents on the counter with Vardy, Maddison, Gray. If teams come and sit back like Newcastle did, they just find it too difficult to break teams down. West Ham, though, will have a go.”

West Ham showed the quality that they have away at Manchester United last weekend, but it has been the mid-table teams that have really troubled them this season.

And Pellegrini will be hoping that his side reverse that recent trend tomorrow.
