The Toffees boss is under fire after a poor start to the season for the Goodison Park side.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has claimed that Everton boss Marco Silva will lose his job at Goodison Park if the Toffees lose their next two games, as per his Daily Star weekly column.
The Portuguese has endured a tough start to the new Premier League season, coming under intense pressure after just six matches due to a number of lacklustre performances which has left them in the bottom half of the table.
Everton currently sit 14th in the table with just seven points, falling to three defeats against Bournemouth and two newly-promoted teams in Aston Villa and Sheffield United, culminating in a lot of discontent amongst sections of the Toffees fanbase.
Up next for the Goodison Park side is the game against Manchester City, which will be a tall order, but Merson believes the fans will be happy with a brave, gutsy display – while the trip to Burnley after that will be the make-or-break fixture for Silva.
“Marco Silva will be gone if Everton lose their next two games,” Merson wrote in the Daily Star. “He’ll be very lucky to survive because that would be four in a row in the league. All the fans will ask for is a sweat against Manchester City this weekend, an effort. Leave everything on the pitch and they won’t complain if they lose.

“They are not silly, the fans. They know. But they won’t have Everton just turning up to get beaten. They need to see a performance. A bit of fight… but it’s not so much the City game. It’s Burnley away the week after. That is a cup final for Silva. He can’t risk going into the international break losing that one because that’s when you get sacked.”
Under Silva, Everton have been able to recoup just four points from the 21 Premier League matches that they have gone behind in – no team to have played in the Premier League in both 2018-19 and 2019-20 have won fewer from losing positions (Opta Stats via Sky Sports).
