Marco Silva’s Everton side are currently lodged in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Paul Merson answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Paul Merson has told Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 6th April, that Everton’s players have a tendency to go missing.

Everton have underperformed in general this season, and currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League table.

The Toffees have shown far better form in their last two matches, but Marco Silva’s side have been worryingly inconsistent this term.

And Merson feels that part of the problem for Everton is that their squad cannot cope with the demands of the Goodison Park crowd.

“I think they might be better away from home for now. They get a lot of pressure put on them on home,” Merson said. “They can play more freely away.

“If they’re not 1-0 up away from home after 20 minutes there’s unrest. I don’t think there’s many big players at Everton, even though there are a lot of good players.

“There aren’t many who are willing to get on the ball, a lot of them go missing.”

Everton won their last away match against West ham United 2-0, and they put in arguably their best performance of the season.

Silva’s men were completely dominant, and the scoreline could have been greater if they had been more ruthless.

Everton do have a chance to prove that they can perform in front of their own fans later today, when they face Arsenal.

If Everton are to win at Goodison Park they will move up one place to ninth in the Premier League table.
