The West Ham star has been nowhere near his best for the Hammers this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Paul Merson has blasted West Ham United star Dimitri Payet saying he owes the club for making him a superstar.
The Frenchman was one of the stars of the show last season with a series of impressive performances and enhanced his reputation by starring for France at Euro 2016.
This season he has failed to impress, though, with the Hammers struggling at the wrong end of the table and just a point outside of the relegation zone.

Payet has come in for criticism as a result especially with questions about his future continuing to surface.
Merson is one who has certainly been less than impressed and has hit out at the midfielder to Sky Sports.
“Dimitri Payet doesn’t look interested – at all,” Merson said.
“I would advise him to knuckle down and help get West Ham out of this relegation battle. He looks like someone that wants to be moving on his way.”
“If it wasn’t for West Ham nobody would have ever heard of Payet – he wouldn’t even be playing for France.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Payet can improve in the coming months, with West Ham in desperate need of him to do so.
He has been nowhere near the level he reached last season and that has clearly affected Slaven Bilic’s side dramatically.
Getting him back to that level must be the Hammers main aim, especially if they want to get away from the current relegation battle they find themselves in.
