Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has struggled to score goals in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham's Vincent Janssen

Much was expected of Vincent Janssen when he joined Tottenham Hotspur from AZ in the summer transfer window, but the Netherlands international striker has been a huge disappointment at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old striker has scored only two goals and created just 15 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season.

The Dutchman is not guaranteed a place in the Spurs starting lineup and has been linked with a move away from the North London outfit in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail reported in March that Turkish giants Galatasaray want to sign the youngster in the summer and are willing to pay as much as £15 million in order to secure his services.

While Janssen’s struggles in front of goal are evident, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has highlighted an aspect of the striker’s game that he likes – his willingness to work hard.

“What I like about him is he never hides,” said Merson about Janssen on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ last Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, April 15, 2017). “He always tries to get in there, and he puts in a shift for the team. He does a lot of unselfish running for this team.”

Interestingly, Janssen scored at the weekend. The Tottenham striker found the net in the second minute of injury time in the Premier League game against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane last Saturday afternoon.

Perhaps that goal will kickstart Janssen’s career at Spurs…
