Sunderland have a tough fixture against Liverpool this week.
Paul Merson has given his view to SkySports on Sunderland boss David Moyes’ post game comments after the team’s 4-1 hammering by Burnley.
Moyes described the December 31 defeat as one of the worst games he has been involved in as a manager, a statement which Merson says should not be taken lightly.

He said: “David Moyes said Sunderland’s 4-1 loss at Burnley was one of the worst performances one of his teams has ever produced in the Premier League – and that’s a big statement because he’s been around for a long time.”
Sunderland’s prospects do not get any easier, with an in form Liverpool coming to visit the Stadium of Light this week, looking to continue their title push.

Merson is calling a 3-0 away win for Jurgen Klopp’ Liverpool, who are coming off a victory over Manchester City.
Liverpool won by only a single goal away at Sunderland last season through a Christian Benteke strike, but are a far more cohesive and free flowing team this season.
Sunderland are a team in disarray after their latest performance, and they remain in the relegation zone, currently in 18th place.
