Paul Merson has suggested in The Daily Star that only Harry Maguire from the current Manchester United team could get into the Liverpool starting lineup.

The former Arsenal star made the comments ahead of the Premier League game between United and the Reds at Old Trafford on Sunday.

While the Red Devils are struggling at the moment and may not finish in the top four, the Merseyside are going strong in the league and are favourites to win the league title.

Maguire joined United from Leicester City in the summer transfer window, and the 26-year-old England international central defender is an important player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “How many would get in Liverpool’s team? Maybe Harry Maguire, at a push. No-one else.”

Liverpool are favourites

United do have a good team and playing at home will give them an advantage, but it is hard to see Liverpool slip up at Old Trafford this weekend.

True, the Reds have not been great defensively, but manager Jurgen Klopp has a very potent attacking unit.

For United to get anything from the match against Liverpool, they need to be very tight and disciplined at the back and try to score on the counter.
