Leicester City signed James Maddison from Norwich City in the summer transfer window.

Merson, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, made the comments following Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Maddison started the match for the Foxes and played for 85 minutes, and Merson suggested that the 21-year-old attacking midfielder would have been a good addition to Rafael Benitez’s side at Newcastle.
Merson said about Maddison on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Premier League on Saturday evening (5:22pm, September 29, 2018): “If you are sitting there as a Newcastle fan, you are thinking: ‘Why didn’t we go for him?’
“Because he would have suited Newcastle. He is one of those lads who wants to get on the ball and he will get on the ball, and that’s what I don’t think they have got at Newcastle.”

Stats
Maddison has been superb for Leicester so far this season following his move from Norwich for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £20 million.
