Paul Merson is adamant that Tottenham are still a one-man team with Harry Kane and if Heung-Min Son doesn’t turn up, then they can still win.

The former Premier League title winner has previously claimed on Sky Sports that without Kane, Spurs can’t tick and put up three points.

But, on the final day of the Premier League season, Antonio Conte guided the club to Champions League football.

Their South Korean star played a huge part in that because he finished the season as joint top-scorer, alongside Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

Merson was reminded about his comments about Tottenham being a one-man team given what Son has done and this is what he told Sky Sports News.

“Harry Kane makes them tick,” said Merson. “When I say, he turns up and plays on his own. Harry Kane has to play. He has to turn up and play.

“If Harry Kane doesn’t turn up and play. They’re not the team. If Son don’t turn up and play, then Tottenham are still going to turn up and win.

“Don’t get me wrong, Son is a very good player. I think he’s top draw. He’s not leaving Tottenham.”

TOTTENHAM ARE MORE THAN A ONE-MAN TEAM

Every team has a player that without them, they can crumble or not produce the very, very high levels they set out.

Liverpool, without Virgil van Dijk last season, well and truly capitulated, so there is nothing wrong with a team relying so much on one player.

But there are still other Spurs players that deserve recognition, from Son to their summer transfer signing, Cristian Romero, who has been out of this world in defence.

Dejan Kulusevski is another because he has elevated this Tottenham attack that, with Son and Kane combining, were already record-breakers.
